Where the data comes from

Our pages are built from public data portals run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): owner complaints, safety recalls, defect investigations, 5-Star Safety Ratings and NHTSA's vehicle information catalog. See our methodology for how to read the numbers.

Independence

We are not affiliated with NHTSA, the Department of Transportation, any automaker, or any dealer. No manufacturer can pay to change, remove or reorder data. The site is free to use.

If you spot an error, such as a model filed under the wrong name, please contact us. We fix verified errors quickly.
