The owners guide in these vehicles may not have been included or if included, the owner's guide may not have been properly provided required information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Honda Civic and CR-V vehicles. The magnet that controls the torque sensor output signal for the electronic power steering system may not be properly secured, allowing the magnet to become dislodged. Risk: The unintended steering input reduces vehicle maneuverability and increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gearbox assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C2N, P2O.
- AIR BAGS · SEATS
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and Civic Type R vehicles. Driver and front passenger seatback pads sold as replacement service parts were made without slit openings for the seat-mounted side air bags. In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the seatback pad would interfere and adversely affect air bag performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."
Risk: If the seat-mounted air bags cannot not deploy correctly in the event of a crash, there would be an increased risk of injury.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front seatback pads, free of charge. The recall began June 15, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is E1D, U1B, and X1C.
- POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe vehicles. The right halfshaft may have been improperly heat treated, reducing its strength.
Risk: The improper heat treatment can result in the halfshaft breaking, preventing the engine from moving the vehicle, and can allow a possible roll away situation if the parking brake is not engaged. This can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the halfshaft's serial number, replacing it as necessary and aligning the front wheels, free of charge. The recall began December 8, 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is K0E.

I am filing this complaint regarding repeated problems with my Honda’s A/C system. The repair history includes a leaking evaporator, which I paid for out of pocket; a failed A/C compressor, replaced under warranty; an A/C compressor shaft seal, also replaced under warranty; another compressor issue; and now an expansion valve that I am being told I must pay to replace. My concern is that the vehicle has been inspected and repaired multiple times for the same A/C system. If…
NHTSA complaint #11769437 · source - Filed Sep 28, 2026FLBrakesElectrical System
I was sitting in my car with it turned off. About 1.5 minutes after it being off the electric parking brake engaged, which is not normal and I wasn’t parked on a hill. I turned on my car after hearing the E-brake engage. The dash board showed “Electric Parking Brake Problem” & the E-Brake dashboard display was flashing as well(I have a video but video is not an option for uploading). The alert magically disappeared as well.
NHTSA complaint #11767614 · source - Filed Sep 27, 2026FLSteering
The vehicle is experiencing a severe and dangerous “sticky” and “notchy” steering sensation specifically at highway speeds (above 40-50mph). While traveling in a straight line, the steering wheel momentarily binds or catches. To make minor lane adjustment, I must apply sudden force to “break” the wheel free from this sticky spot. This causes the car to abruptly jerk or overcorrect creating an immediate crash hazard. This issue matches the exact mechanical failure described…
NHTSA complaint #11767254 · source - Filed Sep 25, 2026NCBrakesElectrical System
The car failed to turn on and the brake pedal froze in a locked position. The warning lights flashed on the dash indicating a system failure of the brakes. This is a known safety issue with this vehicle but not acknowledged by the manufacturer.

My air conditioning failed producing cool air in late 2020. I took it to Honda Penske in Ontario. The said at that time the Evaporator core is leaking but it not covered by warranty. I had pay out of pocket to install freon and that would like me for 5-6 months however the same problem would return. The following year I took it to El Monte Honda dealership where I purchased the car. They reviewed and stated the same the problem and they couldnt do anything about it. I once…
NHTSA complaint #11763431 · source - Filed Sep 3, 2026MNVisibility & Wipers
I'm submitting a complaint for visibility concerns because the A/C system is plauged with issues on this vehicle. When A/C systems don't function properly it causes a visibility concern because the defogger won't clear the windshield (especially in the cold winters in my home state of [XXX]). This is the first series that Honda used this type of refrigerant (R-1234yf) and they ended up having issues with a few other vehicles when introducing this refrigerant. They released…
NHTSA complaint #11761902 · source - Filed Sep 2, 2026CAOther / Unknown
The vehicle suffered a complete, simultaneous loss of climate control and safety defroster/defogging capabilities due to a catastrophic failure of the factory A/C compressor and condenser. This loss of functionality stems directly from a well-documented factory defect where the compressor shaft seal chemically degrades over time (Honda TSB 23-039), leading to total internal lubrication loss and component seizing. While American Honda Motor Co. has an active warranty…
