Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2017 E300 Sedan and E300 Sedan 4Matic vehicles manufactured December 10, 2015, to June 30, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the rear bench seat frame may contact and damage the wiring harness for the fuel pump, fuel tank pressure sensor or fuel level gauge.
Risk: Damage to the fuel pump wiring may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: MBUSA has notified owners, and dealers will modify the routing of the affected wiring harness, repairing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 28, 2016. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

Very strong gas smell coming from car especially in cool weather temperatures. The smell disappears when the car runs for a while but it’s terrible on cold starts. High or low pressure fuel line is the cause of it. Smell would disappear before reaching shops for diagnosis. Many other owners of same exact model experiences this as well.

The car is running poorly. Smell of fumes inside the car. Not drive able due to risk of engine damage including fires and exposure to dangerous fumes.
