    ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC):CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

    Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022 Lexus LX 600, Lexus NX 350h, Lexus NX 450h+, Toytoa RAV4 Hybrid, 2021-2022 Lexus LS 500h, Toyota Mirai, RAV4 PRIME, Sienna, Venza, and 2020-2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid vehicles. The Skid Control ECU software may not turn on the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system when the vehicle is restarted after the driver has disabled the VSC system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

    Risk: Driving with a deactivated stability control system increases the risk of a crash.

    Remedy: Dealers will update the Skid Control ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2022. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 22TA03. Lexus' number for this recall is 22LA01.

    NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles.     Turning into a driveway with foot on brake, the Venza suddenly lurched forward hitting garage door and lurched backwards. no warning lights came on or air bags. Car was maybe doing 2 to 3 mph at the most, as it is a very short driveway. There were no Collision avoidance signals whatsoever.     Parked car sitting untouched, came out in the morning to a 2 foot wide spiderweb crack across the whole windshield. Saw through research that this is a common issue with Toyota Venzas of this year. TOYOTA refused to help or assist with this issue even though there was no impact and this is a repeated customer issue.

    Seems to be an issue with the rear hatch and the locking system. Without any recent rain or snow the locking system will get frozen and not close correctly or open correctly. We though the hatch was closed but it popped open while backing up. We had taken the car to the dealership. The issue has occured twice.

    On 29 Nov 2025 while braking at low speed (<10 mph) to park, my 2022 Toyota Venza Hybrid suddenly lunged forward despite firm brake pedal application and no accelerator input. The vehicle accelerated on its own and struck a stationary pole causing front-end damage.

    When I am at a stop, and the traffic opens for me to go, or the light turns green, I press on the accelerator and nothing happens. The car just rolls forward under no power or it just stays still.     2022 Toyota Venza TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. On 11/8/2025 brakes did not engage while exiting a major highway. While the brake pedal was pushed to come to a complete stop at the stop light, vehicle did not stop, nor the braking system worked at all.     While attempting to cross a busy street, I picked an opening in the coming traffic to cross, released the brake to allow the car to start rolling slowing, but when I pressed the accelerator , I got no response from the car and no acceleration at all for about 3 seconds.
