The brake pedal suddenly became extremely stiff, accompanied by a hissing sound when the brake pedal was applied. The vehicle does not stop normally or immediately after the brake pedal is pressed, creating a serious safety concern. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealer, who recommended replacement of the brake booster and master cylinder. The dealer also recommended replacement of the ECU and hydro unit associated with the braking system. However, Ford has reportedly…

The car did not brake randomly back in may when I was picking my toddler up from school. I contacted Ford dealership and they said braking issues is a known issue with the edge but my vehicle has no recalls. I could pay almost $300 for a diagnostic fee but nothing would be covered because their was a recall for the brake booster but that was back in 2013-2014. So I went to brakes plus, first they replaced the master cylinder then they replaced the brake booster a week later.…

Car was in perfect operating condition. 2 days later while driving with my 2 granddaughters I was approaching a stop sign at about 35-40 mph and as I started to push on the break pedal it became very soft and pushed all the way to the floor with no resistance. I thought the car wouldnt stop,. Thankfully it did without an accident . It has not returned to the normal breaking conditions. Today is…

The brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge failed with no notice. Luckily I was able to coast into a parking lot to get stopped. Even pushing the brake pedal to the floor will not stop the car. We immediately and safely took the car to our local repair shop who confirmed we needed 2 ABS parts to fix the car. That was Oct, 2025 and as of today (June 10, 2026)the parts are still not available to order. I have checked with 3 Ford dealers in 3 states and all say the same thing. They can't…

I am reporting a safety issue involving a 2013 Ford Edge Sport AWD related to progressive brake failure. The affected components include the brake booster and master cylinder. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. In mid-2025, the vehicle developed a gradual loss of braking capability. The brake pedal required increasing force over time to bring the vehicle to a stop. Because the failure developed progressively rather than suddenly, the severity of the…
