2022 GMC Canyon recalls (1)
- SEATS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles equipped with a manual passenger seat. The front passenger seat may have a hook attachment that was not properly welded, allowing it to separate from the inboard track of the seat frame.
Risk: An improperly welded seat frame may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat and replace the cushion frame, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N222368320.

Could not turn the ignition key off beyond the Accessory position in order to turn the key completely off to remove the ignition key. The key would stick in the ON oor Accessory position. The problem was in the microswitch button on the console shifter, the front button is pushed in to enable shifting into the PARK position. Having problems removing the key from the ignition. We checked and there have been reported problems pertaining to the shifter assembly needing to be replaced. GM has not issued any recalls about this issue but they have put out bulletins regarding the problem. We are currently waiting to hear from the dealer on a quote as they told us there is no recall and we will be responsible. The vehicle doesn't even have 44,000 miles on it.

The ignition key gets stuck in the ignition after shutting off the car. The key may not be removed from the ignition. The failure of the transmission shift control mechanism directly impacts the safe, mechanical operation of the vehicle's powertrain and transmission park-lock functions. The contact owns a 2022 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while the gear shifter was shifted to park(P), the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition switch. The contact stated that after turning the steering wheel to the right in a certain way, the key was able to be removed from the ignition switch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

2022 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab. After the vehicle is shifted into Park and the engine is shut off, the ignition key cannot be removed from the cylinder. The key is physically locked, the steering wheel will not lock, and the vehicle cannot be reliably secured.
