Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Odyssey vehicles. Loose battery terminal connections or a degraded battery may cause the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) to unexpectedly reboot. Upon rebooting, the TCU may shift the transmission to the "Park" position, possibly damaging the parking rod.

Risk: A damaged parking rod can allow the vehicle to roll when parked, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will ensure the battery terminal connections are secure and will update the TCU software, free of charge. Additionally, the parking rod effectiveness will be checked. The recall began May 31, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are Z4J, Y4K.

Safety Concern: Severe Transmission Lag and Hesitation on Honda 9-Speed Vehicles. The Honda 9-speed automatic transmission exhibits dangerous downshifting hesitation and delayed shifting while cruising at highway speeds. When attempting to pass another vehicle or accelerate quickly for extra power, the transmission frequently experiences a severe lag, causing a total lack of throttle response (a "no response" mode). This sudden loss of acceleration at highway speeds is highly…

My name is [XXX], we bought a brand new 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite, we have had problems with this vehicle since day one. They have lied and covered up the issues with this vehicle starting with the infotainment center, transmission slippage, fuel pump and the front camera has been overheating giving us the message that it is overheating and all the lights come on. They have stalled us on these issues and now the extended warranty is up and we want something done about this.…

Vehicle began to misfire on cylinder 3. As the issue continued more cylinders stared to misfire. Next was number 6, then 2 increased up the engine. Air fuel ratio was 1.6. Assuming it was fuel/air/electrical in nature, the spark plugs, and fuel injector were changed and air intake and upper valves were cleaned of carbon build up. All gaskets replaced by new. Discovered and replaced a bad egr valve. Last codes that the car displayed before towing to dealer were many misfire…

My 2019 Honda Odyssey has a recurring and dangerous hesitation-to-accelerate defect that began within a few weeks of purchase and has continued for approximately one year, occurring roughly once every 5 times I drive the vehicle. The failure occurs when accelerating from a stop or slow speed, most critically when crossing traffic — for example, turning left across an oncoming lane or pulling out into a road with an approaching vehicle. When I press the accelerator pedal, the…

With a 103,000 on the dash, engine experienced signs on slowing, check engine, abs, adaptive cruise, and steering faults amongst others . No lights prior to the bearing failing. The engine experienced rod bearing failure and left use stranded on the side of the highway. All maintenance was performed at dealership, towed back to dealership where upon inspection rod bearing completely fell apart. Vehicle is still at dealership where a 14,000 dollar engine was quoted.

The vehicle is experiencing a dangerous hesitation during acceleration at low speeds, immediately followed by a sudden, violent forward lunging motion. When attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, or when rolling at low speeds (such as yielding at a roundabout, turning through an intersection, or merging into slow-moving traffic), the vehicle suffers from a distinct **lag or complete failure to accelerate** for several critical seconds. In an attempt to get the…

I was just sitting with a dead car in the middle of traffic. It was still on but totally unresponsive! I called 911 but before they arrived I managed to get the car to turn off and then restart. ??
