Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling one 2022 Outlander vehicle. A software programming error with a welding robot may have caused the vehicle's center pillar to be welded incorrectly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 214, "Side Impact Protection" 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages" and 216, "Roof Crush Resistance."
Risk: In the event of a crash, the reduced strength of the vehicle body may increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: MMNA will repurchase and replace the affected vehicle, free of charge. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-21-009.

The hood on my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has visibly fluttered, shaken and bounced while driving since I purchased the vehicle used on March 15, 2024, with approximately 80,000 miles. This has been an ongoing condition throughout my ownership, not a single isolated incident. The movement is especially noticeable at highway speeds and can be clearly seen from inside the vehicle while driving. I am concerned that the amount of hood movement could present a safety risk while…

The seat belts are much slower to retract than with other cars, including our 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander we also own. My wife has had the front passenger seat belt get stuck in the door at least 3 times (likely more) which has required us to make multiple stops at the dealership to fix it. This is certainly a safety risk since the door remains partially open this certainly is something that should be recalled and fixed. Most recent day was today 5/7/26 but has happened many…

Good flutter at speeds above 45 mph or high winds. NTSB issued but not notified, recall should be issued as this is a safety concern, called dealer who stated a tsb was issued but I was not notified. Due to being out of manufacture warranty I will have to pay cost of hood replacement. Mitsubishi is not responding to my outreach. I first notified dealer of concern after purchase and was not informed of tsb, I was told it was safe and a design flaw.

The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65-70 MPH, the hood fluttered abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, and the dealer test-drove the vehicle and recorded a video of the failure for the manufacturer. The contact was informed that there was no repair available at that time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was informed…

The hood bounces and flutters. It is especially bad driving on the interstate. It is so much that I am scared to drive it.

This model of vehicle (2022) has a known hood flutter that cannot be repaired. It's possible the hood latch could fail and the hood will fly up/open while the vehicle is in motion. My vehicle registration acknowledges a recall but it is not for the hood flutter. I've done research and it is identified on the internet that dealerships know this hood issue exist.

When opertaing vehicle it my parking sensor error message was given giving false reading. I was told because of this scratch i need to replace the sensor. I think its a bad design flaw n there are charging me 800 in parts and labor even though its under warranty This can cause false reading and some one can get hurt

There is currently a service bulletin out for the hood to be replaced because it flutters on the highway, I purchased the vehicle pre owned at 61,000 miles, Mitsubishi won’t cover the repair because it’s over 60,000 miles, I feel like this is a safety concern as the hood flutters on the highway and I have 2 small children in the car most of the time one is an infant , they are trying to charge me $3,045 for the repair when it was the fault of Mitsubishi. I purchased the car…

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander that I financed through your bank. Since purchasing the vehicle brand new in 2022, I have encountered numerous issues that have caused significant inconvenience and concern for my safety. In the past two years, my vehicle has experienced multiple problems, including: 1.Randomly Shutting Off: Last year, my car began randomly shutting off. The dealership attributed this to sensor issues and claimed…

On a windy day or a regular day once the car get to about 45 mph or higher the hood begins to flap, bounce, vibrant as if it is going to fly open. As if the wind is getting under and getting ready to take it away.

The hood has fluttered since I bought the car on 7/29/21. I brought the issue to the dealership's attention, but they denied hearing any other complaints. While I was waiting at the dealership for an oil change, I was talking to other outlander owners, and they expressed the same concern. I also have an issue with the front Collison senor. Since day one, the sensor will disengage in direct sunlight, fog, and rain, making the feature useless. Once again, when brought up to…

Since May 2023, I've been to two different dealerships with the same issue. It started with a whistling sound form air vents, buring smell, increased has consumption, loss of power going up hill, gas smell inside cabin, no air, loud noise from right side of car under hood, and engine malfunction warning. Finally, 12/12/23 the car, without warning, instantly stalled, shut-off in traffic. Several vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid rear end collision at it was it…
