- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:HARD PARTS INTERNAL/MECHANICAL
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. Increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, leading to engine failure.
Risk: Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.
Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle, free of charge. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris, and replace the engine if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2 and R25E3. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V437. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 27, 2026.

ENGINE SEIZURE & PROPULSION LOSS: While driving in heavy, fast-moving traffic, the vehicle suffered a sudden, total engine seizure with zero warning lights or limp-mode transition, resulting in an immediate loss of power and narrowly avoiding a multi-car high-speed collision. My engine light randomly came on with a bunch of other things and my car lost power in acceleration and can barely maintain a speed of 50 mph. Code P0196 popped up and I wanna know if it’s the sensor or the water valve. We brought the car in 3 times to a Nissan dealership and they still haven’t fixed it.
