Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Toyota Tacoma vehicles. Improper machining of the brake master cylinder may result in internal damage of one of the seals, affecting brake performance.
Risk: Reduced brake performance can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began January 28, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J16/J06.

Brake Master cylinder. The brakes lose all pressure and do not stop the truck all of a sudden. This is an open recall on many of these trucks but apparently my specific truck isn’t included in this. Because it just happened we are looking for the parts to fix this. Although it’s to the tune of over $1,000. There are no warnings, no lights nothing. Just went to pull out of my driveway and have no brakes. Although the pads are brand new and professionally installed.

Brake pedal started sinking to the floor. Inspected and no fluid leaks present. If brake pedal is pumped, it will build pressure. Then the check brake system light comes on. That is a sign of brake master cylinder failure.

I have the exact same issues as the big recall done with the Toyotas for the brake master cylinder. My Tacoma is leaking brake fluid from the inside of the cabin! I contacted Toyota showed the pictures and evidence, I have the exact same issue as all the other trucks with the recall, Toyota refused to help me fix my truck, even tho everything is exactly the same. They argued that because the date my truck was assembled is why they wouldn’t help. They cannot track which parts…

Brake fluid leaking into driver-side floorboard. Due to leak in brake master cylinder seal. Recalls have been issued for same year and model, but my truck is not included. I assume mine has a different manufacturing date. Yet my truck has the same problem as those with the recall.
