Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 23, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. My dashboard was cracked before the airbag recall and I covered the dashboard with fiberglass…

Have a 2007 Chevy Avalanche LTZ 5.3L that has a dashboard panel that is completely falling apart and cracking everywhere. This includes MULTIPLE cracks and broken pieces surrounding the airbag. Dashboard cracked in multiple locations, without any major accident/no airbag deployment. I am concerned dash is so brittle any airbag deployment will cause the dashboard to separate into pieces and become shrapnel. I'm the original owner of the vehicle. The first crack started approximately in nov 2011 and now has gotten worse over time.
