General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT6, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, and 2022-2023 Cadillac XT5 vehicles. The transmission may have been built with an incorrect sun gear, which can result in the driver-side half-shaft disengaging from the transmission.
Risk: A half-shaft disengaging from the transmission can result in a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the sun gears, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2023. The remedy is expected to become available August 31, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GMC's number for this recall is N222389310.

I was driving down a neighborhood road and my car suddenly slammed to a stop, forcing my chest into the steering wheel and throwing my dog from the backseat into the back of the passenger seat. We had it towed to a local shop and they reported the solenoid inside the transmission has failed. This is a two year old vehicle with less than 100k miles on it. Luckily, I was in a neighborhood going less than 50 mph and did not have my children in the car with me. Other than some…

Transmission shifts to a low gear and will not upshift causing the vehicle to only go about 10 mph @4,ooo rpm. Dealer says it is a solenoid in the transmission that has failed. Part is on limited distribution because of significant instances of this occurance. This is a dangeruos situation that could cause great peril. My vehicle has only 22,000 miles. This is very premature for this new of a vehicle.
