Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
Risk: If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

ABS and WRENCH icon are flashing on dashboard. Car making a terrible noise from underneath . I try to drive the car but it loses power and goes into LIMP mode. I have read many problems with the ABS control module valves sticking open due to the wrong type of brake fluid put in by manufacturer. My car is a 2007 ford fusion sel AWD with only 89,000 miles. I need a recall service appointment as quickly as possible because this is the only vehicle I own. The car is just sitting…

This vehicle was totaled in May 2020. I had numerous and constant brake issues with this car and had much of the brake system (brake pads, rotors, and calipers I believe) replaced within a year of the accident. The accident occurred when I tried to apply the brakes, causing me to hydroplane into an oncoming car. My concern is that this could be related to the ABS recall (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 19V904000). Although my vehicle does not appear to be affected by the recall, it seems…

In January of 2020 and again in October of 2020, I received recall notices regarding the recall of the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) per the 19S54 / 19V-904 recall notice. Once the part was available, I scheduled the work and brought my Fusion to DCH Ford of Eatontown 764. The dealership looked at the HCU and said it was not affected and not in need of replacement. Days later, I tried to drive my car and had no braking capability, save the emergency hand brake. The Fusion was…

Kayser ford in madison, wi was supposed to have replaced driver side air bag. I have concerns about their properly replacing, per the safety recall, as tim douglas boasted that "they have over 47 airbags" in back and this is not how the recall should work. The part needs to be ordered per the vin and received and put in, not some random spare extra parts in back, put in the vehicle, without knowing how long they have been sitting there. Further, this ford replaced the…

I received safety recall notice 19s54 / nhtsa recall 10v-904 in january 2020 telling me there is a safety issue with the braking system on my car. It said i would be notified when parts would be available. I got another notice in october of 2020 telling me the same thing, but have still not heard back. It has been over a year and no word from ford. If this is a safety issue they are not taking it very seriously. It cannot take over a year to get parts. I am giving this car…
