Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2013-2014 Santa Fe Sport vehicles previously repaired under recall numbers 15V-568 and 17V-226. The high pressure fuel pipe that connects to the fuel pump outlet may have been damaged, misaligned, or improperly torqued during the engine replacement procedure, allowing fuel to leak from the pipe.

Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pipe, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2019. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's recall number for this recall is 180.

I purchased fgis car from a used car dealership, for over $6,000.00 , which is not a ton of money, but plenty enough to not have instant issues. Since my purchase in june 30, 2026, i have already had all of these issues occur. There is white smoke coming from the left tail pipe, it is sluggish when you push on the gas, there is black soot constantly on my rims that is extreamly hard to remove, the high pressure fuel pump jas failed, I can tell because the oil is higher then…

The affected component is the engine/rod bearing (Theta II 2.4L). My 2011 Hyundai Sonata stalled and the engine locked up twice in live traffic (March 2025 and July 2025). The vehicle is available for inspection if needed. This created a serious safety risk to me and others on the road, as the stall occurred on [XXX] at highway speeds. This failure could have been catastrophic had it happened on the DC/Baltimore Beltway or another high-traffic roadway. Hyundai’s system shows…

    1. The car began to randomly stall and stop running. This happened while driving and it was extremely dangerous. Typically, the engine would restart after at least waiting 15 minutes. Any attempt to start the car before that time would fail. 2. When the stalls happened, the car acted as if it had run out of gas. The engine would simply stop running WITHOUT WARNING, at intersections, on city streets, and on the freeway at high speed. It did not matter how full the gas tank…

I had bought this car off Facebook marketplace after confirming with my dad that it was a good car, when I had finally saved enough. After I took it home the check engine light had come on not too long after, the engine stalls when turning the key, pressing on the brake helps start the engine. Turns out the car was a salvage title and my dad didn’t know that and I didn’t know what that was.

I tried pumping gas and the car would not let me pump the gas into the car. I had to hold the the gas pump hose and pull the trigger myself to pump the gas, which would still make the clicking stop noise that stops the pumping of the gas. Then when I started driving, the check engine light came on. Went O'Reilly to test the check engine light code and it popped up with a P0449 code for the evaporative emissions (EVAP) vent control valve.

It turns on halfway where the dashboard turns on but the motor/engine does not turn. It appears to be white smoke coming out of the car after trying to turn it back on.
