    TIRES

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 F-150, 2018-2020 F-250, F-350, and 2019 Escape vehicles equipped with Continental tires. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during tire production.

Risk: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S10.

I own a 2018 Ford F-150 4WD with approximately 24,600 miles. While traveling approximately 70 MPH on the highway in 2H with cruise control operating, I suddenly heard an extremely loud metal-on-metal grinding/ratcheting noise from the driver's-side front wheel area. The noise caused immediate concern about a possible front wheel or drivetrain failure. I disengaged cruise control and the grinding stopped. Within approximately 50 miles on the same trip, the grinding occurred a…

Hubs keep engaging themselves when parked. Hubs have been replaced as well as the 4wd IWE valve and the problem continues. Multiple shops have worked on this and failed to find a solution. It is becoming a safety problem if it starts to engage while driving.

Took truck for service maintenance and tire rotation. Tire rotation wasn’t done because tech said lug nuts were swollen and they couldn’t get lug nuts off. I took truck across street to Big-O tires and they rotated tires and we had lug nuts replaced with steel lug nuts.

Lug nuts on all wheels have become misshaped making them a risk for fall off and/or unable to remove wheels without the aide of an impact wrench at a shop. This would prevent the owner from changing a tire on the road if needed. Also a safety concern with driving should the lug fall off.
