I am filing this complaint regarding a serious engine lifter/Active Fuel Management (AFM) failure in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The vehicle experienced a lifter failure that caused significant engine problems and created a potential safety concern while driving back from shopping: loss of power, engine misfire, severe shaking, ticking, check-engine light, stalling, inability to maintain speed, etc. The vehicle had approximately 200k miles at the time of the failure.…

Lifter for cylinder 7, part of the Active Fuel Management system, failed to open causing the truck to lose full power while I was on the highway without any warning prior to the incident. It could have caused an accident if It had happened during a busier time on the highway as I could not go the "flow of traffic's speed." It has been torn down and looked over to confirm the problem and full extent of the damage, by a dealership, with pictures of proof. This has left me…

When on the highway and attempted to accelerate to pass in the passing lane, there was a loud pop, the truck rapid decelerated and my son was forced to drive off the burm to avoid being hit by a semi truck. It’s been determined that it was caused by a lifter failure due to the AFM system

My 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 had an oil pump failure at 77,000 miles… Truck may be 11 years old but it only has 77k on it and the oil pump has already failed? Seems crazy to me, especially when I’ve changed the oil religiously every 3,000 miles.

The engine in my 2015 Chevy Siverado 1500 5.3 AFM lost propulsion, began to shudder and stall on the highhway as I was pulling out of my hometown. Speed limit 60 MPH. I returned home and the flashing engine light came on before I could get home. Sputtering I pulled into the drive but was concerned about mine and my passengers safety as I turned around on the highway and headed back home! This is the second time my lifters failed, as diagnosed by the repair shop currently…

2015 Chevrolet Silverado complete engine failure. At 143,000 miles the engine failed because of the displacement on demand fuel injection system/lifters. Lifter failed without warning, destroyed the camshaft, cam bearing and crank and crank bearings. Chevrolet/GM were no help at all and took on responsibility for building defective engines they knew would fail after the warranty expired. I ended up spending nearly $17,000 to have a remanufactured engine installed.
