2014 Ford Edge recalls (3)

  • Recall 20V692000Nov 10, 202015,587 vehicles
    POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Explorer, 2014-2015 Taurus and 2014 Edge vehicles equipped with 2.0L or 2.3L engines and front wheel drive. The support bracket for the front drive axle halfshaft may fail.

Risk: The failed bracket could result in a loss of park function which can cause unintended vehicle movement, and loss of motive power while driving which increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the link shaft bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S63.

  • Recall 15V005000Jan 9, 201554,543 vehicles
    FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

Ford Motor Company (Ford) notified the agency on January 8, 2015, that they are recalling certain model year 2014 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured April 15, 2014, to May 8, 2014, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles manufactured April 21, 2014, to May 15, 2014. On April 30, 2015, Ford expanded the recall to cover an additional 45,505 vehicles, including certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured November 11, 2013, to August 29, 2014, 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta vehicles manufactured April 10, 2014, to June 17, 2014 and 2014 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured April 30, 2014, to May 21, 2014. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.

Risk: If the fuel pump fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S30.

  • Recall 14V393000Jul 2, 201483,250 vehicles
    POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.

Risk: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

The rear reverse camera is not working. When placed in reverse, it displays a blank screen, upside down image, or on a rare occasion it shows the rear image correctly. This same issue has been recalled by ford for model years 2015 thru current. The issue has been present long before 2015. My camera stopped working in 2019 - after the warranty had expired. This issue impacts my safety when shifting into reverse. On occasion when the camera displays a correct image, I use it…

I took my 2014 Ford Edge in for an annual inspection and discovered severe rust over the entire frame and a large hole rusted through the subframe. The rust had spread to the suspension and exhaust pipe. The car failed inspection and after seeking multiple consultations from auto body repair shops it was deemed the car needs a whole new frame, subframe, suspention within 1 year and a new exhaust pipe. I researched the issue and learned this is a widespread and reported issue…

The backup camera works periodically. Over a year ago, I went to Fiesta Ford to complain but it would cost me over $1000 to repair the camera. Many rimes it will start to work and during my back up, the screen would go black. There were several times when this occurred where I almost backed into another car backing up at the same time. The message on the screen says camera currently not available.

  6. Filed May 9, 2026CABrakes
On three separate occasions, the brake pedal has gone all the way to the floor, with braking power reduced to a scary, dangerous level. An independent mechanic ran a diagnostic scan on one of those occasions and received an ABS Module fault. They bled the system, and the brakes worked well (fault went away) -- until the next incident, in which the car decided to randomly 'fix' itself about 20 minutes later. Independent shop and the dealership performed in-depth inspections…

Brake pedal felt mushy, took vehicle to repair shop and had master cylinder replaced. Problem persisted so took vehicle to a different repair shop and had brake booster replaced. Pedal felt firmer but then a hissing sound could be heard while driving without using brakes. Had brake booster replaced again as well as the vacuum hose connected to booster. Now Pedal goes all the way the floor requiring excessive pressure to stop vehicle and a high pitched hissing sound is heard…

The backup camera malfunctions, and has been doing so for about a year. When the vehicle is put into REVERSE sometimes the camera screen will be black for a few moments, followed by a message that the camera isn't available, and that I should contact my dealer. Sometimes it will come on, but show an upside-down image. There are active recalls for this problem, but I can't seem to get my VIN on the recall list so that this safety issue can be fixed.
